BIO

  Natalia Hatzopoulou, also known as Natalia Hatz, was born on August 3rd of 2000 in Athens Greece. She is an emerging composer as well as a classically trained pianist and cellist. 
She began composing in 2010, completing numerous works for piano, chamber ensembles and orchestra.

Since then, she has claimed many distinctions and awards.

 

   In 2022, she was the #1 WINNER of the Oticons Faculty International Film Music Competition and the Grand Prize Winner of UK International Music Competition (Season 2). In 2017, she was the 1st Runner Up in the Marvin Hamlisch Film Scoring Contest, USA (Youth Category) and in 2019-2020, she made it into the TOP 10 finalists in the Oticons Faculty International Film Music Competition

   Her collaboration with director Peter Horgan led her to create music for the short film 'Ready to Die' (2019) and his feature film 'How to Rob' (2022).

  Her first E.P. 'Chrysalis (Piano Works)', was released in 2020 and showcased her awarded piano compositions. The same year, her orchestral work 'Three Dragons' was performed by the Underground Youth Orchestra at the Benaki Museum. 

Her first album 'Natalia Hatz: Forest Quartet', was released in 2021. The piece is a contemporary classical work depicting the different elements of nature through the life cycle of a forest. It was originally performed by L'Anima String Quartet and distributed by Subways Music.

Her latest orchestral work, 'Odyssey' was commissioned by Colorado Springs Youth Symphony to be premiered during their 2022 Greece tour. It was performed at Theatre of Rematia and the Theatre of Olympia.

  In 2023, she graduated with High Honors from the University of Athens with a degree in Music Studies and Music Technology. She is currently a masters student studying Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games at Berklee Valencia and  working freelance as a composer, making concert music and music for independent films.

  • TOP 5 Finalists in the Tenth Fidelio Piano Composition Competition 2019 ( Category 3. Minimal- Experimental- New Age ) for her original piano composition ''Echo''.

 

  • ​1st RUNNER UP in the Marvin Hamlisch Film Scoring Contest –USA (Youth Category) in 2017.

 

  • 1st Prize Composition Award from X.O.N (Youth Choir & Orchestra Panhellenic Competition) for the original piano composition “Silence” in 2015.

 

  • 3rd Prize Composition Award from X.O.N (Youth Choir & Orchestra Panhellenic Competition) for the original composition for piano and cello  “Transition” in 2015.

  • SCREEN COMPOSER ACADEMY - Assistantship, Glyfada, Greece 2023

  • "Odyssey" - Commission for the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony CSYSA to be premiered during their 2022 Greece tour. The piece was performed in 12th of June at the Theatre of Rematia in collaboration with the Underground Youth Orchestra.

  • "How to Rob" - Music for the independent feature film directed by Peter Horgan. (2022)

  • Celestial Images (2024) A contemporary folk-inspired chamber music  work depicting three celestial bodies. Performed by Stella Athanasiou (oboe) and Natalia Hatz (piano) and released by Subways Music (2024)
